How I got started?
I love food and history. I’ve been fortunate to join numerous food tours across the World – it’s great to get taken around a city/suburb by a local guide – learn about its history/culture and of course taste fabulous and unique food/drink. Food tour experiences create amazing memories! Aside from rich history and culture, both Liverpool and Chester have fantastic food/drink independents and I wanted to showcase the fantastic business owners who create stunning food.
What I love about the job?
I LOVE meeting new people and it’s a privilege to welcome tour guests from all over the world. It’s also great to partner with various independents – many have become my friends – and doing my little bit in supporting them. Of course continually TASTING and sampling food/drink is very exciting and necessary. Also, every time I wonder though each city, I see or learn something new. I’m really lucky to have the opportunity to work in two beautiful cities.
How the business is doing?
Of course, due to the pandemic business has been effected but staycations have meant that UK travellers have joined tours during the summer months. I’m looking forward to welcoming more guests in 2021 and beyond.
Exciting new plans for 2021
I have a number of new tours planned. For instance watch out for my All Day Food Walking Tours which will be lunched in the Spring. The independent food and drink scene is continually evolving in both cities and this allows me to create new tour experiences.
What I’ve learnt as a tour guide
I’m always learning…but one key thing is the fact that we are rarely tourists in our own city! Local tour guests are always surprised about history/facts about the city they never knew, and also the independents we visit during each tour – they have never visited them before!
My favourite things about Liverpool & Chester
Where do I start! There are so many things. I’d have to say, the sights, the independents and the stunning food/drink!
